NEWS UPDATE

His Hands Ministries Praise Report for 2024-25

With your help: –
1) We continue to provide food supplements weekly for 150 to 160 families. Our monthly food distribution average is 300 families! Without our regular volunteers and the Winter Texans, we don’t know how we would manage. This year we were honored with a 25-year certificate for our years of service with the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley! We also remain on call for emergencies through their facility in Pharr. Our orders are placed twice a month and are delivered by transport. This includes pallets of milk, cheese, various meat products, (fish, chicken, turkey, hams, ground beef, sausage & hamburger patties) and tons of fresh produce!! They also deliver bread and bakery items twice a week that are donated by H.E.B.
2) We served 15-35 hot meals daily on site for local volunteers & “Winter Texans”.
3) We were blessed with a group of 50 college students from Pella, IA, that came to the Valley during their winter break in January to volunteer wherever they were needed. Another group from Missouri came for 3 weeks in February. These groups were such a blessing and to see such a difference that can be made in a such short time! We built not one, but two 3-bedroom homes this year! Check the photo gallery! Volunteers did more painting and regular maintenance on our main buildings. We replaced gutters that were damaged by hail 2 years ago. More windows, siding, soffits and facia were updated. Lighting was updated in the food distribution room. Donated “Mini splits” were installed for the Chapel. (An update for heating/cooling)
4) In March, we hosted a Gospel Musical Benefit Concert. The performers were Curt James, Rick McEwen, and Rusty Rierson. (who gave freely of their time and talent) Authentic Mexican tacos and virgin cocktails were served prior and during the event. The event was followed by an ice cream social. A love-offering was taken for His Hands Ministries for a total sum $13,000!! A huge success!! Thanks, Guys!!
5) We were pleased to hold our annual Daily Vacation Bible School in March. Many thanks to H.E.B and other donors! We were able to give out note books, pencils, and erasers. We had a library of storybooks for the children to take home and ended the week with a day of jumping castles, races, water games, and prizes.
6) Several R.V. Parks in the Mission Area are regular donors of household furnishings. These items are sold for a nominal fee in our “His Hands Thrift Store”, to help recover transportation, operating costs and support of our food program. This year was an amazing $23,700.00!! Thank you, Winter Texans!!!
7) Almost 300 reusable “Family” bags were given out at Easter with bath towels, face cloths, shampoo, conditioner, bars of soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, etc.
8) We continued to hold regular services on Sunday morning in our Chapel, Bible Study on Wednesdays and perform special services such as weddings and baptisms.
9) We hosted a sit-down Thanksgiving Dinner for 150 people!! Desert consisted of HEB Pumpkin or Apple Pie to eat in or to take home.
10) Our Christmas Family Day, was a busy time for our volunteers and the families in the area. 200 families received blankets and warm clothing. Children received toys and of course, a bag of candy. Everyone always enjoy the BBQ of hot dogs (500+) chips, and juice. We were entertained by Rusty Reirson (folk singer) with Christmas carols. Each family received a 60 – 70lb box of basic groceries, 10lb chicken quarters, fresh vegetables, milk, 2 lbs shredded cheese, bread, buns, cakes, pastries & pies.
A great blessing!
